Abstract :
Abstract The experiment was conducted on the effects of defatted rice bran in broiler diets for 0-6 weeks of age. Five concentration of defatted rice bran (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) were tested in diets formulated to be isonitrogenous (22% CP for 0-3 weeks and 20% for 3-6 weeks of age) and isocaloric (3,050 kcal ME/kg). A total of 500chicks were randomly assigned to five treatments, each treatment having four replicates of 25 chicks. In each replicate, 25 chicks were confined together in a pen of 2x3 m2 and fed diets as ad libitum under natural environmental conditions. At 6 weeks of age, two birds were randomly selected from each replicate for carcass composition measurement. Results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. There were also no significant differences (P>0.05) in eviscerated yield, breast meat yield, leg meat yield and abdominal fat. The finding indicated that up to 20% dietary defatted rice bran can be used successful y for broiler chicks.
