Abstract :
Abstract The composites between natural fiber (NR), ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), jute fiber and polypropylene (PP) were mixed by using an internal mixer. The test specimens were prepared by injection molding machine. The effect of content and type of rubber on the rheological , mechanical, and morphological properties of composites was studied. The results indicated that by adding jute fiber into PP, the viscosity, tensile strength, and Youngs modulus of the composite increased butthe elongation at break and impact strength decreased. With the addition of NR or EPDM in jute fiber-PP composite, tensile strength and Youngs modulus decreasedwith increasing rubber content. However, the tensile strength and Youngs modulus of the compositeswith rubber content less than 10% were still higher than those of PP. The elongation at break and impact strength of jute fiber-PP composites increased with the rubber content, especially at 30 % rubber content. EPDM rubber led to higher impact strength of the composites than NR rubber.
